- Rajula police offer food to Tauktae impacted, reaches those in need through rickshaw, tempo, and truck across several villages.
Police in Rajula are doing their bit for the cyclone Tauktae which has impacted many in the taluka. The cops are traveling across villages to provide food for those who may not be able to fend for themselves.
Rajula, Jafrabad, and Savarkundla in Amreli were among those that were severely impacted by cyclone Tauktae. Many residents, particularly those living in Kucha houses found their homes destroyed. The Rajula police have come forward to bring food to many such people who may not have two square meals a day.
Rajula police said the area suffered large-scale destruction due to cyclone Tauktae. Many have completely lost their home and electricity is yet to be restored in many places which has resulted in inn mills not working and as a result people finding it difficult to buy flour.
Police said cops have been pressed into service to ensure that food reaches the affected. Police said the food is sent via rickshaw, tempo, and sometimes even trucks, and it was distributed in the town area.
Cyclone Tauktae impact on Gujarat
Gujarat government has announced a compensation of Rs95,100 for houses that have been completely damaged in cyclone Tauktae. The state following a meeting to discuss the aftermath of cyclone Tauktae announced compensation for houses that have been damaged in the event. The state said that it will compensate for pucca houses, semi-pucca houses, hutments, and even kaccha houses that were destroyed in the state.
It also announced a compensation of Rs4 lakh for the kith and kin of those killed in cyclone Tauktae. This is in addition to the Rs2 lakh compensation announced by the Centre for those who died in the cyclone. Thus in all, the near and dear ones of those who suffered a fatality in the cyclone in Gujarat will get Rs6 lakh as compensation.
It also said Rs50,000 will be paid as compensation for those who were injured. This is in addition to the Rs50,000 compensation announced by the centre. Thus, all the injured in the state will get Rs1 lakh as compensation.
