COVID cases in Gujarat registered a drop of below 5,000 on Thursday. For a week now the total cases in Gujarat have fallen below the 10,000 mark. The state registered 4,773 new infections per day in the last 24 hours. In all, 8,308 patients were discharged during the same period. Sixty-four deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded eight and five deaths each while three deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
All other districts except Panchmahals, Kheda, Navsari, Gandhinagar Corporation, Narmada, Aravali, Morbi, Tapi, Dangs have registered COVID fatalities.
The state at present has 89,018 active cases of which 716 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 6,77,798 patients while the fatality stands at 9,404.
Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 1,709 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 297 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 209 cases.
Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 422 and 192 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 51 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 87.32%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 7.76 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.30 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.37 lakh cases and Vadodara over 70,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.49 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. The state had halted vaccination for those in the 18 to 44 age group for three days and later for everyone due to cyclone Tauktae resumed the same on Thursday.
41,104 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 40,704 people got their second shot of vaccine on Thursday
46,162 people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 1.37 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
