As per day COVID cases in Ahmedabad rise, the AMC has decided to close down paan shops in the city until the situation improves. AMC has downed the shutters of paan shops and also tea stalls in a bid to control the spread of COVID.

The Solid Waste Management Department of the AMC sent teams in all seven zones to close the shops. The sudden step by the civic body also led to altercations as many shop owners resisted the same. The AMC argues that paan shops attract a crowd and it aggravates the COVID situation.
