COVID cases in Gujarat continued to stay below 5,000 on Thursday for the eighth consecutive day. For 14 days now the total cases in Gujarat have fallen below the 10,000 mark.
The state registered 2,869 new infections per day in the last 24 hours. In all, 9,302 patients were discharged during the same period. Thirty-three deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded six and two deaths each while two and one deaths were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot.
All other districts except Junagadh Corporation, Junagadh, Panchmahas, Gir Somnath, Banaskantha, Kheda, Kutch, Anand, Valsad, Patan, Aravalli, Surendranagar, Gandhinagar Narmada, Dahod, Ahmedabad, Tapi, Morbi, Botad, Dangs, and Chhota Udepur have registered COVID fatalities.
The state at present has 49,082 active cases of which 583 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,42,050 patients while the fatality stands at 9,734.
Vadodara recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Vadodara Municipal Corporation alone recording 375 cases. Ahmedabad municipal corporation recorded 338 cases. For a week now since the second COVID wave began, the AMC limits saw less than 1,000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 208 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 115 cases.
Rajkot Corporation limits saw 115 cases. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 28 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 92.66%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 8 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.34 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.40 lakh cases and Vadodara over 74,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.62 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 80,786 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 22,862 people got their second shot of vaccine on Thursday.
1.13 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 2.26 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
