The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday raided the residence of comedian Bharti Singh in Mumbai, a news agency reported.

The agency said Singh and her husband are accused of buying and consuming drugs. The raid is part of the investigation into the drug ring that emerged during the probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June.

The probe has covered several big names of the entertainment industry for drug use.

NCB also probing Arjun Rampal in drug case

Earlier in November, the NCB had searched the home of Arjun Rampal. Later Rampal and his girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades, were summoned for questioning. The latter was questioned for over two days while Rampal’s questioning lasted six hours.

Rampal later told the media that the substance recovered by the NCB at his house was part of prescriptions and that he had handed the same to the agency.

Paul Bartel, an Australian architect was also arrested by NCB in connection with the drug probe. NCB had said Bartel was an alleged supplier of the drug. His name had emerged after the agency questioned Agisialos Demetriades – a South African national, who is also the brother of Rampal’s girlfriend. Agisilaos is in the custody of the NCB.

Bartel was granted bail on Thursday by a special court which said there was no substantial material to prove wrongdoing on his part.

Bollywood producer summoned in drug probe

Earlier, the NCB also summoned film producer Firoz Nadiadwala, a day after his wife Shabana Saeed, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Officials allegedly found 10gm of marijuana at their home in Juhu, Mumbai during a raid. Saeed is also out on bail.

The search at Nadiadwala residence came after it emerged that Saeed was a client of Wahid Abdul Kadir Shaikh, a drug peddler. Shaikh was arrested in Andheri a few days ago.
