Fodder scam: RJD leader Lalu Yadav gets bail


Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav got bail from the Jharkhand High Court in connection with a case related to the fodder scam. Following the bail, the incarcerated leader will be released from jail.

Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh while granting the bail directed Yadav to not leave the country without permission its permission. Lalu Yadav has been in jail for over a year in the Dumka Treasury case after being convicted of withdrawing Rs3.13 crore from the treasury. RJD’s twitter handle also tweeted and confirmed the bail.

The funds were taken by Bihar’s Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996. Lalu Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar during that time.

In all Lalu Yadav has been convicted in four cases related to the fodder scam and he had already got bail in three of them. The fourth case under the fodder scam was the Dumka Treasury case in which too he got bail.

The fodder scam refers to several government functionaries swindling funds meant for cattle fodder.

Lalu Yadav health 

The RJD leader is under treatment at AIIMS hospital in Delhi after being airlifted when his condition began to deteriorate. He was admitted there in January this year and put under observation in the critical care unit of the hospital.

He had earlier been under treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi for multiple ailments.

He had trouble breathing and had also suffered a bout of pneumonia.
