Owner of Sheetal Ice Cream among 10 booked under new Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act in Ahmedabad

A land grab case has been registered against 10 accused- six for trying to grab government land in Sola, 3 in Ellisbridge Panjrapole land case, and one in Sarkhej

The owner of Sheetal Ice Cream is among the ten people in Ahmedabad who have been booked under the new Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act.

As per a complaint with the Sarkhej Police station, one Pranav Sheth has accused Ahmed Patel, a resident of Paldi of grabbing 8030 sq m of land in Sarkhej. The complaint says Ahmed Patel, one of the owners of Sheetal Dairy and the popular Sheetal Ice Cream, illegally constructed shops and a mosque on the grabbed land.

Zone 7 DCP Premsukh Delu said that a case has been booked against Patel and he is being questioned.

The other land grab cases

In another case registered in Sola Police Station, the Talati, Siddhrajsinh Vaghela, has filed a case of land grabbing against six people- Nathaji Ramtaji, Jalamji Ramtaji, Laxman Ramtaji, Rajaji Ramtaji, Ashok Rajaji, and Lalji Rajaji.

The six are accused of grabbing government land and starting construction on the said land. This happened despite the state clearing the illegal construction on the land earlier.

The third complaint with Ellisbridge Police filed by a consultant Rasik Nandasan who works with the Ellisbridge Panjrapole has accused three people Virji Desai, Vipul Desai, and Bachubhai Chunara of grabbing 3000 sq m of land in Ellisbridge.

The three are accused of setting up a cattle shed there and also building the same in the compound of the panjrapole. It also accuses the three of forcing people to pay a parking fee for parking on the land and renting out the place to street vendors.

A case has been booked against all the accused under the new Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act.
