A case of cheating has been filed against the son of a former IPS officer in Surat who among other things claimed to be a close confidante of top bureaucrat K Kailashnathan

The complaint was filed by one Gopal Radadiya who is into purchase and sale of land with builders. Radadiya lives at Panchwati Society in Surat’s Sarthana Jakatnaka area.

Radadiya is a regular at the Sachivalaya in Gandhinagar owing to his business. In 2019, he met one Mukesh Boghra at Sachivalay who promised to help him navigate the bureaucracy for his work.

Mukesh had claimed to be in touch with someone who was well connected with the workings of the Sachivalay.

Later Gopal told Mukesh that he was looking at getting a lease for sand mining in Narmada River near Bharuch and also setting up a salt production unit in Bhuj. He wanted to get government land on lease for the same. Mueksh put him in touch with Nirav Jebaliya, son of retired IPS officer Bavku Jebaliya.

The two met Gopal at his office and Nirav claimed to be a close confidant of Gujarat’s top bureaucrat K Kailashnathan.

He also claimed to be well connected in Gandhinagar and promised to help him with the lease. Nirav then took Rs40 lakh from Gopal as advance to get the work done towards getting him the sand mining and salt production lease.

He however could not manage the work. When Gopal inquired about the lack of progress in the work and the money he had given, Nirav said that he would need another Rs80 lakh first. Sensing that he was taken for a ride, Gopal approached the Crime Branch and filed a case against Nirav.
