Hardik Patel offers Chadar at Ajmer Dargah, pray for relief from COVID-19 pandemic

Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress Working Committee President Hardik Patel on Saturday paid homage to Sufi Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti famously known as Khwaja Garib Nawaz in Ajmer.

Hardik Patel along with Rajasthan Waqf Board Chairman Khanu Khan and others paid tribute to Khwaja Garib Nawaz at 10.30 am in Ajmer.

Patel offered prayers and presented a ‘Chadar’ (sacred cloth) at the dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz, located over 145 km from the state capital Jaipur.

Hardik Patel remained present at Dargah for more than an hour, where he was welcomed by the Khadims.

Syed Suhail Ahmed Niyazi, one of the Khadim of Ajmer Dargah, who was present with Patel told Gujarat Exclusive in a telephonic conversation that the young leader tied a knot of Mannat and also prayed for relief from COVID-19 for the people of Gujarat.

He prayed for a Covid-free India. After offering flowers and chadar, Patel also visited the khadims of the dargah Niyazi said.

This is the second visit of Hardik Patel to the Khwaja Sahab Dargah in the past two years.

HC allowed Hardik Patel to move out of Gujarat

Earlier this month, Gujarat High Court allowed Patel to move outside the state for a total of 17 days. The high court permitted him to travel outside Gujarat from November 11 to December 2.

A petition was filed by Patel before the Gujarat High Court stating that as working president of Gujarat Congress he had to participate in several political meetings outside the state. The petition also said he needed to visit Bihar and other places for the political campaign of his party and also meet his lawyers in Delhi for consultation of cases pending before the Supreme Court.

Earlier Ahmedabad Sessions Court had rejected Patel’s bail modification plea citing that he is trying to delay court proceedings and due to which he cannot be granted the permission to leave Gujarat.

Hardik Patel was granted bail on January 22, after he was arrested by Ahmedabad Crime Branch for failing to appear before the court in a sedition case of 2015. The court granted him conditional bail that he cannot leave Gujarat without the court’s permission.
