A sitting judge of the Gujarat High Court, Justice JB Pardiwala, has tested positive for COVID-19. Last year three judges of Gujarat High Court had tested positive for the disease.
Justice JB Pardiwala of the division bench also hears the suo motu PIL concerning COVID-19 in the state.
Last year three judges of the Gujarat High Court had tested positive for COVID. Among the three Judges who had tested positive for COVID – 19 Justice GR Udhwani had passed away due to a serious lung infection while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Ahmedabad.
In 2020, several employees working in different departments of the high court had also tested positive following which the administrative work at the court was suspended for a limited time.
In all, the administrative work at Gujarat high court was suspended thrice since the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
Gujarat High Court had on October 26 announced live streaming of hearings that were being held via video conferencing. It was live-streamed through Youtube on an experimental basis. Gujarat High Court was the first in the country to live-stream its hearings. Almost all matters are heard through video conferencing in Gujarat High Court since the lockdown was imposed in March 2020.
