A marriage ceremony in Vejalpur scheduled to be held on December 9 had to be postponed after the groom and his mother tested positive for COVID-19. The groom who works with the high court tested positive and so the wedding has been halted as of now.
The youth got to know about his COVID-19 status after testing was conducted at his office on November 24. Sources said all the preparations for the youth’s wedding, scheduled for December 9, had been done and invitation cards sent out but the family could not go ahead with it as the groom and his mother both tested positive.
Sources said the family was tested after the groom tested positive. Earlier the curfew imposed in the city on the weekends had also ended up disrupting several weddings in Ahmedabad. Wedding planners and event managers had said they suffered losses due to the 57-hour sudden curfew.
COVID-19 in Ahmedabad/Gujarat
Gujarat COVID-19 on Wednesday recorded 1,540 new cases taking the total to 2,01,949 in the state. This is the third time that cases have gone past 1500.
The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of these, 10 are in Ahmedabad and two in Surat, and one each in Botad and Vadodara.
Of the total deaths in Ahmedabad, nine were in AMC limits. The addition of 10 reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 2,005.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel has said that as of now no decision has been taken on curfew during the weekend and urged people not to fall for rumours.
Nitin Patel said weekend curfew in the four cities will not be imposed but it was dependent on the emerging situation. “As of now no decision has been taken,” Patel said.
