Farmers protest: Posters explaining benefits of farm laws come up in Ahmedabad

The posters that have come up from Iscon to Prahladnagar and explain in detail the alleged benefits of the farm laws.

It warns people to be aware of the lies being spread about the law and shows a farmer who has given his approval and support for the law.

On Thursday the Supreme Court had asked the Centre to consider putting the controversial farm laws on hold.

It also suggested the constitution of a comprising of all stakeholders for negotiations to put an end to the stalemate between the protesting farmers and the government.

The farmers’ protest

Notably, several rounds of discussions between the Centre and the agitating farmers’ leaders have remained inconclusive. While the Centre is promising amendments in the three farm laws to pacify the farmers, the latter is not ready to settle down for anything less than the scrapping of the contentious laws.

Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the government is ready to have a clause by clause discussion with the farmers.

As part of their protest leaders of around 32 farmer unions had observed a day-long hunger strike at Delhi’s Singhu border to protest against the Centre’s new farm laws. The unions claimed that demonstrations were also held at various district headquarters across the country.

The protesting farmers have warned that they will intensify their protests against the government’s farm laws as multiple rounds of talks with the government remained inconclusive.
