The Ahmedabad Crime Branch nabbed two people who made fake HSRP number plates. The two had bought the fake HSRP number plates from a person near the Nadiad RTO in Gujarat.

Police found out that the accused had brought vehicles that had originally been purchased with a loan. They used the fake HSRP numbers on the vehicles bought on loan so that they could avoid paying the same.

The Crime Branch team nabbed Munavarkhan Pathan, 41, a resident of Vatva and Rohit Chunaara, 34, a resident of Kheda from Narol.

Cops recovered a Honda Activa from Munavarkhan which had the registration number GJ-7 CM 8341. The vehicle was originally brought on loan by one Abbas Gafur Sheikh from Universal Honda showroom in Paldi.

Why fake HSRP number plates were being used?

Police said the two used fake HSRP number plates so that they will not have to pay the loan on the same. The probe also revealed that Rohit brought the fake number plates from one Aquib who works near the Nadiad RTO.

Cops are on the lookout for Aquib and his arrest is likely to reveal more such people who are using fake HSRP number plates.
