Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: As Ahmedabad registers a rise in COVID-19 cases, the Gujarat University has made masks mandatory for anyone entering its premises. Those without a mask will not be allowed entry, Gujarat University said.
The university has in a notice said that – students, professors, college staff, and visitors will have to wear face masks to avoid COVID-19 infection.
No person shall be allowed to enter the university campus without a face mask, the notice said. Gujarat University has also asked its students not to assemble in groups of more than four. This rule, the varsity said, will be in place until further notice.
Other orders issued by Gujarat University
It has also said that street vendors will not be allowed to operate near the university campus. The same instruction has been passed to Navrangpura Police Station.
To avoid COVID-19 infection Gujarat University has also asked all its departments not to hold cultural programmes until further orders.
The University has asked its students to obtain the prior permission of their departmental head while arriving at the university campus.
Head of Departments associated with Gujarat University has been asked to ensure that research students studying in various departments follow the 6 feet distance norms.
Apart from this all professors, students, college staff, and visitors are asked to follow social distancing, sanitization, and various other norms issued by the state. The online form filling for GTU’s 10th convocation is likely to begin from December 3.
Gujarat has reported 1,564 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 2,08,278.
