As drive through vaccination gets a good response, AMC announces 4th such centre

The AMC has announced one more drive through vaccination centre in the city. This will be the fourth such centre in Ahmedabad. The centres are being set up to encourage more people to get vaccinated and so far have got a good response.

The new drive through vaccination centre at the AMC plot behind Chimanbhai Patel Institute in Jodhpur ward will begin functioning from Thursday onwards.

The other drive through vaccination centres

So far the drive-through vaccination centres are available at Navrangpura Stadium, Drive-in Cinema, and Nikol area in Ahmedabad. The three centres have so far got a tremendous response with long queues being reported from the early morning itself.

The drive through vaccination at Drive-in Cinema is for those above 45 years of age and vaccination is available from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Ahmedabad, the AMC and Ashirwad Foundation had organized a drive through vaccination at Navrangpura stadium from Saturday onwards. The day one of the drive-through vaccination saw a long queue of cars and two-wheelers. The latter was also allowed to encourage more people to take advantage of the vaccination drive.

The drive through vaccination centre was set up at Bhuj’s RD Varsani ground earlier. This came as Kutch registered a surge in cases during the second wave of COVID. The drive-through vaccination centre was to expedite the vaccination drive in the district.

COVID in Gujarat

COVID cases in Gujarat touched 10,990 new infections per day in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. In all, 15,198 patients were discharged during the same period. 117 deaths due to the disease were recorded in 24 hours in the state.

Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded 17 and 8 deaths each while six deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
