A local court in Ahmedabad has granted bail to an accused involved in the theft of two New Jersey cows in the Odhav area of the city. The cows were worth Rs1.20 lakh.
The court while allowing the bail to accused Saahun Mev observed that the accused has already undergone a considerable time in custody. He is in judicial custody since September 9, 2020. Court ordered the accused to furnish a personal bond of Rs20,000 before the Odhav police.
The court accepted that the accused has criminal antecedents and was earlier involved in a similar kind of offence in 2012 in Rajasthan.
The public prosecutor submitted that, if the applicant is released on bail, there is a possibility that he will continue to indulge in such illegal activities in the future too. The public prosecutor said his bail application should be rejected.

The advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted before the court that there is no recovery or discovery of the case property from the applicant. The accused has been arrested only based on the statement of the co-accused.
What is the cow theft case?
As per case details on June 26, 2017, at around 01:45 am, the accused allegedly stole two Jersey cows worth Rs1.2 lakh from the open place near the house of the complainant. The accused had a sword in his hand and also threatened the complainant.
