Family comes to get COVID patient discharged told he is dead, hospital ransacked

 Relatives of a COVID-19 patient who died while under treatment ransacked a hospital in Chandkheda, reports said. 

As per reports, one Amit Kapadia, who had tested positive for COVID-19, was under treatment at the TLGH hospital in Chandkheda. The 36-year-old resident of Danilimda was scheduled to be released on Tuesday as his condition had improved and he was on the mend.

When Kapadia’s family came to get the patient discharged, the hospital informed them that he had passed away. The family got angry and had a heated altercation with the staff and the doctors and later allegedly ransacked the hospital Police were called and the cops managed to cool tempers.

COVID in Gujarat

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 2,11,257 as the state recorded 1,477 new cases. The state has in all recorded 14,885 active cases of which 81 are on ventilator support. Gujarat saw 15 fatalities due to the disease of this, 10 are in Ahmedabad and two in Surat. Amreli, Patan, and Vadodara recorded one case each.

Of the total deaths in Ahmedabad, 10 were in AMC limits. With this, the Gujarat COVID-19 fatalities stand at 4,004.

The addition of 10 cases reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 2,072.
