Gujarat saw yet another hike in COVID cases as the state recorded 424 new cases in the last 24 hours. In all 303 patients were cured of the disease. The state also saw a death duo to COVID which was recorded in AMC limits. As of now, the state has 1991 active cases of which 35 are on a ventilator while the rest are stable. The state has so far discharged over 2.6 lakh patients while the total fatalities stand at 4,408.
Ahmedabad recorded 71 new cases but it was Surat and Vadodara that had the highest number of cases at 79. Rajkot also reported 54 cases. No cases were recorded from seven districts in the state.
The state has been seeing a surge in COVID cases since the elections. After reporting fewer than 300 cases each day since February 1, Gujarat has been witnessing a rise in cases in major cities and districts.
Efforts to prevent COVID
The AMC has also restarted testing kiosks at 16 spots across the city and in all it has eight micro-containment zones. The Gujarat government also announced that it will set up border check posts to screen people coming from the neighboring states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

COVID vaccination in the state
The state has so far vaccinated 819809 people with the first dose of the vaccine while 115338 people have been given the second dose. The state has not recorded a single death due to vaccination so far.
