COVID cases cross 500 per day mark in Gujarat, 12.37 lakh people vaccinated with first dose of vaccine


COVID cases in Gujarat crossed the 500 mark with the state recording 515 new cases in the last 24 hours.In all 405 patients were cured of the disease. The state also saw a death due to COVID which was recorded in AMC limits. As of now, the state has 2858 active cases of which 43 are on a ventilator while the rest are stable. The state has so far discharged over 2.64 lakh patients while the total fatalities stand at 4,413.

Ahmedabad corporation recorded 113 new cases while Surat and Vadodara corporation had 101 and 90 cases respectively.

Rajkot Municipal Corporation also reported 46 cases. No cases were recorded from five districts of the state. These districts were Botad, Patan, Tapi, Valsad and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation.

The state has a recovery rate of 97.33%.

The state has been seeing a surge in COVID cases since the elections. After reporting fewer than 300 cases each day since February 1, Gujarat has been witnessing a rise in cases in major cities and districts. Cases have crossed the 400 and now the 500 mark.

COVID vaccination in the state

The third phase of vaccination from March 1 onwards under which those above the age of 60 years and those above 40 years of age but with severe ailments are being vaccinated.

Vaccination is available at both private and government hospitals. Vaccination costs Rs250 per dose in private hospitals while it will be free in government hospitals.

On Friday in all 1.72 lakh people were vaccinated in a day and so far 12.37 lakh people have been vaccinated for the first dose and 2.90 lakh people have been vaccinated with the second dose. On Friday 1.23 lakh senior citizens and those suffering from comorbidities got vaccinated.
