Gujarat COVID-19 Update: In a first, cases cross 1600

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Friday touched 2,05,116 as the state recorded 1,607 new cases. This is the first time that cases have gone past 1600 and the fourth time that cases have gone past 1500.

On November 20, the first time in over a month cases had once again crossed the 1400 mark.

The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 27 days now while it has recorded over 1,400 cases for 12 days so far. 

The state has carried out 69,283 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,388 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 90.90%. 

The state has in all recorded 14,732 active cases of which 96 are on ventilator support. So far 1,86,446 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of these, 11 are in Ahmedabad and four in Surat, and one in Gandhinagar.

Of the total deaths in Ahmedabad, 10 were in AMC limits and four in SMC limits. With this, the Gujarat COVID-19 fatalities stand at 3,938.

The addition of 11 cases reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 2,028. The death toll has increased to 113 in Surat, whereas it remains 217 for Vadodara and 100 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 238 new cases being recorded while 61 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 325 new cases while it was 28 in the district. This is the seventh time in over two months that cases in Ahmedabad city have surged past 300.

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 127 and 31 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district. 

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day 12 times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 32 times, over 1,000 cases 26 times, over 900 cases 21 times, and over 800 cases for six days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

69,283 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as part of Gujarat COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1089.54. The state has tested over 76 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
