Gujarat COVID-19 Update: Cases cross 2 lakh

Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Tuesday touched 2,00,409 as the state recorded 1,510 new cases. This is the second time that cases have gone past 1500.

On Friday the first time in over a month cases had once again crossed the 1400 mark. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 27 days now while it has recorded over 1,400 cases for 12 days so far. 

The state has carried out 84,625 tests in the last 24 hours. 1,286 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 91.05%. 

The state has in all recorded 14,044 active cases of which 94 are on ventilator support. So far 1,82,473 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.

The state also saw 16 fatalities due to the disease. Of these, 12 are in Ahmedabad and three in Surat, and one in Botad.

Of the total deaths in Ahmedabad, all were in AMC limits and three in SMC. With this, the Gujarat COVID-19 fatalities stand at 3,892.

The addition of 12 reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,995. The death toll has increased to 104 in Surat, whereas it remains 215 for Vadodara and 99 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 219 new cases being recorded while 67 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 323 new cases while it was 24 in the district. This is the fourth time in over two months that cases in Ahmedabad city have surged past 300.

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 141 and 38 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district. This is the highest Vadodara has recorded so far.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day 12 times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 32 times, over 1,000 cases 26 times, over 900 cases 21 times, and over 800 cases for six days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

84,625 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as part of Gujarat COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1301.92. The state has tested over 73 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
