COVID cases in Gujarat touched 13,050 new infections per day in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. In all, 12,121 patients were discharged during the same period. 131 deaths due to the disease were recorded in 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded 22 and 8 deaths each while 8 and 9 deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
All other districts except Navsari, Gandhinagar Corporation, Panchmahals, Anand, Porbandar and Dangs registered COVID fatalities.
The state at present has 1,48,297 active cases of which 778 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 4,64,396 patients while the fatality stands at 7,779.
Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 4,693 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 1,214 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 360 cases.
Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 563 and 593 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 151 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 74.85%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 6.07 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 1.80 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.20 lakh cases and Vadodara over 53,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
The state saw over 1 crore people getting the the first dose of COVID vaccine while 26.82 lakh people have got the second dose of the vaccine. In all 1.27 crore people have got the vaccine so far.
52,528 people in the 18 to 44 year age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 22,794 people above 45 years of age got the first dose of vaccine while 45,281 people got the second dose of vaccine.
The registration for COVID vaccination for those in 18 to 45 years of age is now open in the CoWin app. Spot registration is not available to people in this age category. Private hospitals, state governments, and others are directly purchasing the vaccine from the manufacturer for this age group.
