A Talaja court in Bhavnagar sentenced former BJPs MLA Kanubhai Kalsariya to six months in jail in a case of unauthorized entry in the UltraTech cement plant in Talaja.
Talaja Court held Kanubhai Kalsariya and six others guilty in a case of unauthorized entry into the cement plant premises. Kanubhai Kalsariya was protesting against UltraTech’s cement plant at the local level. In the agitation against the company, he had resigned as an MLA from the BJP. Earlier Kalsariya along with farmers had taken a rally towards Gandhinagar.
According to sources, Kanubhai had led a protest at the factory and a case was slapped against him by the company. The case was being heard in the Talaja Court for a long time.
A sentence was announced today.
Earlier, Kanubhai Kalsariya had stated that farmer’s land should remain with farmers and it shouldn’t be made barren. Farmers had supported him and promised to continue the movement. Notably, Kalsariya was among the senior BJP leaders.
