The nomination forms of two Congress candidates for the upcoming Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) elections have been cancelled following scrutiny. Ward, no 1 candidate Bharat Shiyad and Ward no 4 candidate Naran Swaseta of the Congress had their nomination forms cancelled following scrutiny.
Shiyad had some errors in the mandate that was given to him while ward no 4 candidate Naran Swaseta’s nomination was rejected as he had three kids. Now Congress’ ward no 4 dummy candidate Rambhai Jhilariya will fight elections from the ward.
The BJP had raised objections to the mandate form given by the Congress to its candidates. Congress leader Indranil Rajguru said they will make a representation to the high command in the matter.
The BJP attacked Congress saying that despite being a 100-year-old party it was not aware of the rules.
