Congress candidate in Rajkot says BJP offered Rs10 lakh to withdraw nomination

Congress candidates in Rajkot have accused the BJP of offering them a bribe to withdraw their nomination. Tuesday is the last day for withdrawal of nomination for the Rajkot district panchayat elections.

Sonal Bagda, a candidate for a seat from Dadvil in Jamkandorna taluka of Rajkot has accused the BJP of offering her Rs10 lakh to withdraw her nomination.

She said that on February 14, three local leaders of the BJP came to her house and offered her Rs10 lakh to withdraw her nomination. She alleged that when she refused they threatened to kill her.

She alleged that when she went to file a complaint with the Jamkandorna police station the cops refused to take her complaint. She has now moved the district collector.

In all, there are 36 seats in the Rajkot district panchayat and apart from BJP and Congress, AAP and several other independents are also contesting.
