Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has become the subject of funny memes after the Gujarat High Court urged the state to consider three-four days of lockdown to curb the surge in COVID cases.

After the observation, it was speculated that Rupani may announce a lockdown but instead, the state only increased the curfew timing in 20 cities.

This has led to social media being flooded by funny memes about Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani stating that the reluctance to impose a lockdown stems from the fact that his son is scheduled to get married on April 20.

“There won’t be any lockdown in the state, because I have my son’s wedding scheduled,” goes one of the memes making fun of the CM for his reluctance to impose a lockdown.

Rupani had earlier clarified that the state won’t impose any sort of lockdown. This statement of his is being added, subtracted, and multiplied to come up with funny memes.

Social media users alleged that it was the wedding of Rupani’s son that had prevented the state from imposing a lockdown.

Rupani’s family

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has fathered three children. His daughter Radhika lives in London with her husband Nitin Mishra and the couple work as a chartered accountant. His son, Rushabh, a Nirma University graduate in mechanical engineering, is scheduled to get married on April 20.

Rupani also had a son Punjit who he lost after the child fell from the third floor of a house in Ahmedabad. The CM following the death of his son began the Punjit Memorial Trust in his memory.

It should be noted that the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election and the byelections to the Morva Hadaf assembly seat are also scheduled on April 17.
