The state education department on Wednesday said practical exams for Class 12 science stream students will be held from March 30, 2021.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) circular said practical exams for chemistry, physics, and biology will be held at pre-designated exam centers in different districts of the state.
Science stream students who have registered for the board exams in May 2021 will be allowed to appear for the practical exams in March 2021.
The exams will be conducted by the state education board.
Changes in the exam pattern
Earlier, the education department had decided to reduce the syllabus by 30% for classes 9 to 12 across all streams. It also decided to change the style of the question paper. The state education body had decided to cut down the syllabus and change the style of question paper for the academic year 2020-21.
As per the new style, the commerce stream will have 30% objective type questions for standard 9 to 12. Earlier 20% of questions were objective type in the question paper.
Unlike the commerce stream, there is no change in paper style for the science stream students. In the science stream, 50% of the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) whereas the remaining will be in descriptive form.
Also in the descriptive type questions, the state board examination body has given its students the general option in place of the internal options.
The GSEB had prepared 40 question papers related to different subjects to give an idea about the style of the question paper. It has also sent the sample question papers to district education officers (DEO).
The DEOs have been asked to circulate the demo question papers with the new paper style to all schools across the state. Also the same is made available on the official website of the school board.
