Gujarat chief secretary Anil Mukim has been given six months extension once again. Anil Mukim was to retire on February 28 but following the second extension granted to him, he will now retire in August 2021. In all Anil, Mukim has got a year of extension after he was due to retire.
The state had recommended the extension which was accepted by the Centre.
The 1985-batch IAS officer had served at the Centre before being appointed as the chief secretary in November 2019. He superseded Arvind Agarwal. After he was about to retire, he got his first extension in August 2020, at that time it was said that since the state was battling COVID an extension was inevitable.
Before the current extension was announced it was speculated that Guruprasad Mohapatra, another Gujarat-cadre IAS officer who is at present the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade could be brought back as the chief secretary.
