The Gujarat High Court has granted interim bail to former legislator Chhabil Patel, who is the prime accused in the murder of former BJP MLA Jayanti Bhanushali in 2019.
Gujarat High Court granted interim bail of six days to Chhabil Patel so that he can attend the wedding of his son – Siddharth Patel, who is also an accused in the murder case.
Siddharth Patel is scheduled to get married in November and the ceremony will last from November 26 to 28. The final ceremony will be concluded only on December 2.
Conditions of the bail for Chhabil Patel
Chabbil Patel had sought interim bail of 25 days for the marriage of his son though he was granted bail only for six days from November 27 onwards.
The court granted interim bail to Chabbil Patel on the condition that a police escort comprising one ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) and two constables will accompany him for the said period of six days.
The advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted before the court that the accused had earlier been granted bail due to a death in his family and no untoward incident was reported. The court directed the accused – Chhabil Patel – to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000.
According to the FIR lodged with Gandhidham Railway Police Station former MLA Jayanti Bhanushali was shot dead by an unknown assailant in Sayajinagari Express near Maliya on January 8, 2019. Chhabil Patel was later booked as the prime accused in the case.
