Ahead of the civic body polls in the state, the BJP has been hit by the COVID pandemic. Apart from chief minister Vijay Rupani, the State BJP’s general secretary (organisation) Bhikhu Dalsania and Kutch MP Vinod Chavda have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Media reports said Vinod Chavda is under treatment at a private hospital in Ahmedabad while his son who has also tested positive is under home quarantine.
Chavda, Dalsaniya and several other top BJP leaders were part of the state parliamentary board meeting held recently to decide the ticket for the local polls. The meetings were held at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Rupani COVID positive
Earlier, the Gujarat government said that CM Rupani, who had been aggressively campaigning for the BJP in the local body polls have tested positive for COVID. The report came after he suddenly collapsed on the stage in Vadodara while addressing a rally. He was rushed to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre.
Apparently Rupani had been unwell for sometime and had mild fever but chose to continue with his official engagements. As of now his condition is reported to be stable.
“Chief Minister Vijay Rupani fainted on stage while addressing an election rally in Vadodara. He was brought to Ahmedabad and admitted to UN Mehta hospital for a medical check-up. His health is completely fine and he will be kept under observation for 24 hours,” Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel had said after the incident.
