Several prominent BJP leaders and many saints of the Swaminarayan Sect have come in close contact with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who recently tested positive for COVID. Rupani had after testing positive for the disease tweeted and asked all those who came in contact with him to get tested for COVID.
Rupani had addressed several public rallies in the last many days due to the upcoming civic body polls in Gujarat.
Where all Rupani went
Vijay Rupani who recently addressed a rally in Vadodara had with him top BJP leaders of the city including Yogesh Patel. He has addressed seven public meetings in the last five days. He had also attended the parliamentary board meeting of the party on February 10. And attended an event in Ahmedabad on February 11.
He addressed two public meetings in Bhavnagar on February 12 and the next day and attended an event where BAPS donated money for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Interestingly Ram Janmabhoomi Teerthkshetra Trustee Govind Devgiriji Maharaj had also come in close contact with the chief minister.
On February 14 he had been to Jamnagar to address public meetings and later came to Vadodara where he fainted during an address.
COVID in BJP
Apart from chief minister Vijay Rupani, the State BJP’s general secretary (organisation) Bhikhu Dalsania and Kutch MP Vinod Chavda have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Vinod Chavda is under treatment at a private hospital in Ahmedabad while his son who has also tested positive is under home quarantine.
Earlier, the Gujarat government said that CM Rupani, who had been aggressively campaigning for the BJP in the local body polls have tested positive for COVID. The report came after he suddenly collapsed on the stage in Vadodara while addressing a rally. He was rushed to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre.
Apparently Rupani had been unwell for sometime and had mild fever but chose to continue with his official engagements. As of now his condition is reported to be stable.
