Amit Shah’s close aide Hitesh Barot gets BJP ticket from Thaltej ward, could be Ahmedabad mayor

The BJP announced candidates for the six municipal corporation elections. But the name of one candidate- Hitesh Barot- has got BJP circles abuzz as he has been part of home minister Amit Shah’s Core Committee team for years.

Hitesh Barot has been given a ticket from the Thaltej ward and the buzz is that he may be made mayor of the city if BJP comes to power. Barot is also the director of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank and the Gujarat State Co-operative Bank.

BJP is abuzz

Barot being given a ticket by the BJP and brought into mainstream politics has taken the local leaders and workers by surprise. He has been active in the co-operative bank sector as well as in the agricultural committees.

Despite his close association with the BJP, he has never been part of active mainstream politics but now the buzz is that he may be the mayoral candidate of the BJP if it comes to power.

Barot had got into a controversy two years ago when he had shared an edited picture during Amit Shah’s birthday celebrations. The picture had shown PM Modi as Arjun and Amit Shah as Lord Krishna. This had created a big controversy in Gujarat.
