Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated two overbridges in Ahmedabad. The virtual inauguration was done for the overbridge near Pakwan as well as the Sarkhej overbridge. Both the flyovers are on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway.
A release from the state government said that the bridge over the Sindhu Bhavan crossroads near Pakwan has been built for Rs35 crore while the one over Sanand junction was constructed for Rs36 crore.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, and mayor Bijal Patel among others were present at the virtual inauguration of the overbridges.
The project is likely to ease the traffic between Ahmedabad and the capital Gandhinagar.
The two flyovers have been constructed in the city jointly by the Centre and the state. The flyovers are part of the bigger project to widen a 44-km stretch between Sarkhej-Gandhinagar-Chiloda on National Highway 147.
Rupani said that the overbridge was proof that the government has not allowed the pandemic to impact the infrastructure development in the state.
More overbridge projects
Nitin Patel said that in the coming days Gujarat will be free of railway line stops for vehicular traffic. He said 68 overbridges across 72 railway lines will be constructed across Gujarat for Rs3,000 crore in the coming days.
In all projects to construct 11 flyovers on the 44 km highway from Sarkej -Gandhianga-Chiloda.
