- The move is part of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between AMC and Apollo Hospital
- While those who can afford will get vaccinated, what about those who can’t?
Days after the Centre allowed states the liberty to provide on-spot registration for COVID vaccination in the 18 to 44 age category, the AMC has announced the same at the drive-through vaccination centre at GMDC.
But the AMC’s on-spot registration for vaccination at the drive-through centre will come at a cost. Those who wish to get vaccinated will have to shell out Rs1000 per dose.
This is part of the civic body’s Public-Private Partnership drive with Apollo Hospital. It said the hospital will provide all the logistics to set up the drive-through vaccination facility.
The vaccination will be open from 9 am to 5 pm from May 27 onwards. It is targeting to vaccinate 1000 people so far. The civic body further plans to extend it to other drive-through vaccination sites if the response to the present drive is good.
Gujarat’s stand on on-spot registration for vaccination
Earlier on May 24, the Centre relaxed online registration for vaccination for those in the 18 to 44 age group but Gujarat had said that online registration for the age group will be mandatory.
Principal secretary, health Jayanti Ravi had at that time said that news going around that those in the 18 to 44 age group can get on-spot registration for vaccination is not true. She had said as of now online registration for the 18 to 44 age group continued.
She said under the present online system a person after registering online will get the designated time, date, and place where he/she can get vaccinated and that system will continue.
The Centre in a notification on Monday said those in the 18-44 age group without access to the internet or smartphone can walk in to register and get an appointment for COVID vaccination.
