AMC seals Ishan Group’s office in Sola for violating 50% staff rule

  • AMC has carried out checking at 8,432 offices so far and sealed 48 for violating norms

The tax department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation carried out checks at various offices to know whether the 50% staff-only rule was being followed or not.

The civic body carried out checks at 291 private offices and it was found that Ishan Group’s office opposite Gujarat high court in Sola Road was still working with full staff strength.

The office was sealed and a notice was issued. The civic body also checked if the staff that came to the office wore a mask or maintained social distance.

The civic body has checked 8,432 units so far of which 48 have been sealed for violation of the norms.

Earlier actions by AMC

On May 13, the AMC sealed three offices of BV Sorathia Construction limited at Sola, Vora, Shah & Company at Ellisbridge, and Federal Bank at Maninagar for violating 50% staff norms.

The AMC had sealed several offices including  the National Handloom for violation of COVID norms and 50% staff rule. The AMC carried out checking at 267 offices and building Star Bazaar, Jodhpur, Arsenal Tech Pvt Ltd, SG Highway, Pure Care Pvt Ltd, Sarkhej, Premvati, Mansi Circle, Ariyan Ltd, Ashram Road, Team Lease, Ashram Road, National Handloom, Naroda, Mahadev Mobile, Naroda and VV Mobile, Naroda.

AMC has also shut down its civic centers in the city as COVID cases continued to surge but most of its services are available online. Earlier, the AMC had also shut down the Aadhar Card centers as COVID cases surged. Tea and paan shops have also been shut down and later it also announced the shutting of beauty parlour and hair cutting salons for an indefinite period.

It had also announced that offices will have to function at 50% staff strength and had begun sealing those that violated the norms.
