Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is likely to visit Ahmedabad on February 4, sources said. The party has announced that it will contest the civic body polls in Ahmedabad and Bharuch and has promised a third option for Muslim voters in Gujarat. It has said it will contest from 15 seats in Ahmedabad.

Sources said he is also likely to visit Bharuch and meet Bharatiya Tribal Party leader Chhotu Vasava and also may address a public meeting both in Ahmedabad and Bharuch. The AIMIM has a tie-up with BTP for the civic polls in Bharuch.

Sources said he may address a gathering at the JP Chowk in Khanpur on February 4. But many AIMIM party workers feel that the area will be too small to accommodate a crowd and the event could be shifted to the Riverfront.

AIMIM is eyeing the Jamalpur area in Ahmedabad which is a Congress stronghold. Earlier, Muslim leaders in the Congress had said that AIMIM was jumping into the fray to split Congress votes and that it was hand-in-gloves with the BJP.
