AAP wants Surat BJP candidate’s nomination form cancelled, begins ‘Ram Dhun’ protest

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Surat has demanded that a BJP candidate for the Surat Municipal Corporation elections hid some information and hence the candidate’s nominations should be cancelled.

The party has accused Surat Ward no 8 BJP candidate of hiding information and keeping the election commission in the dark.

The BJP had given a ticket to Suvarna Jadhav for the Ward no 8 Dabholi Singanpor seat. The AAP has alleged that the candidate works with the Anganwadi run by the Surat Municipal Corporation and gets a salary from them for her service and hence her nomination form should be cancelled.

The party also organized a Ram Dhun protest to demand that her nomination be cancelled.

AAP’s ward no 8 candidate Dhanjit Viras has argued that the officials are not rejecting the candidature forms of BJP candidates despite errors and misinformation in them due to the pressure from the BJP. He has said the party will carry out protests until the form is cancelled.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat and has asserted that it will contest from all the seats in the local body polls.

The party has said that it will perform well in the polls and emerge as a strong alternative to the ruling BJP. It has said that it will not remain confined to local body polls, but will also contest the Assembly polls in Gujarat.
