BJP workers have filed seven different complaints against AAP leader Gopal Italia for his alleged insulting comments about various public figures, most of them from the BJP. The comments were allegedly made in various social media posts of the party. The Saffron Party has asked Gopal Italia to publicly apologise for his comments.

The BJP has said that Gopal Italia is a public figure and he should maintain the sanctity of the same and not make derogatory comments about other leaders and should apologise for the ones he has already made.

They alleged that Italia, who in one of his posts allegedly referred to BJP state chief CR Patil as a bootlegger, made the comments without any proof and tried to tarnish the image of their leader.

Who is Gopal Italia?

Gopal Italia, who has been a vocal critic of both the BJP and the Congress in Gujarat had joined the AAP and was appointed its vice-president of the Gujarat unit in 2020.

Italia was also actively involved in the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti and was a clerk with the revenue department before being dismissed from service.

He again came into the limelight when he hurled a shoe at Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja. He faces several criminal cases most of which he alleges are politically motivated.
