A 50-year-old Anganwadi worker who had gone to a temple to offer prayers was allegedly gangraped and killed in the Ughaiti area of Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, media reports said citing police. She was also brutalised, the reports said. Two people have been arrested in the case.
Post mortem reports confirmed rape and injury to her private parts. She had also suffered a fracture in her legs. The complaint by the woman’s kin said the woman had gone to the temple on January 3 and later the priest of the temple along with two others left her body at their house without any explanation.
The priest had claimed that she had fallen into a well and he and two others had helped her. The family of the victim has accused the priest of rape and murder and the police of delaying the FIR.
How the gangrape was confirmed
Post mortem reports confirmed rape. The department has formed four teams to nab the other accused and assured that the culprits would soon be arrested.
The son of the woman in a local media interview claimed the priest and others dropped her at the door at 11 pm and left quickly. He said the woman was a regular visitor to the temple and had left at 5 pm on January 3.
