The situation seems to be on the mend in the city
The COVID situation seems to be improving as the number of ICU and oxygen beds available in the city has crossed the 350 mark for the first time.
The city so far has 354 such beds of which SVP Hospital has 12, VS, Shardaben, and LG Hospital have no vacant ICU or oxygen beds.
182 designated COVID private hospitals have 171 empty ICU and oxygen beds. The 212 nursing homes have 133 empty beds while Civil Hospital has 20 such beds vacant. In all, the city has 9,602 ICU & oxygen beds of which 9248 are occupied.
Meanwhile, the AMC has begun an oxygen refilling plant in Behrampura without any formal inauguration. It was originally to be inaugurated by the home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja who could not attend the event and hence the plant was thrown open without any formal inauguration.
The oxygen bottle refilling plant is expected to help improve the oxygen demand situation in the city. The plant can refill 1000 oxygen bottles in a day.
Congress MLA Imran Khedawala was present during the opening of the plant and thanked the AMC officials for the same.
COVID in Ahmedabad & oxygen beds
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded 22 and 8 deaths each due to COVID in the last 24 hours while 8 and 10 deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 4,174 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 1,168 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 298 cases.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 6.33 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 1.89 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.23 lakh cases and Vadodara over 55,000 cases.
