3250 new COVID cases, 44 deaths in Gujarat in the last 24 hours


COVID cases in Gujarat registered a drop of below 5,000 on Tuesday for the sixth consecutive day. For twelve days now the total cases in Gujarat have fallen below the 10,000 mark.

The state registered 3,250 new infections per day in the last 24 hours. In all, 9,676 patients were discharged during the same period. Forty-four deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.

Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded seven and three deaths each while two deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.

All other districts except Junagadh Corporation, Kheda, Kutch, Amreli, Panchmahals, Valsad, Gandhinagar Corporation, Porbandar, Aravali, Narmada, Mahisagar, Dahod, Tapi, Surendranagar, Navsari, Morbi, Botad, and Chhota Udepur have registered COVID fatalities.

The state at present has 62,506 active cases of which 603 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,22,741 patients while the fatality stands at 9,665.

Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 491 cases. This was the fifth time since the second COVID wave began that the AMC limits saw less than 1000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 226 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 197 cases.

Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 335 and 137 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 43 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 90.92%.

Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 7.94 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.34 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.39 lakh cases and Vadodara over 73,000 cases.

COVID vaccination status

So far 1.58 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 63,781 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 25,554 people got their second shot of vaccine on Tuesday.

1.28 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 2.28 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
