3,085 new COVID cases in Gujarat, recovery rate at 91%


COVID cases in Gujarat registered a drop of below 5,000 on Wednesday for a week now. For 13 days now the total cases in Gujarat have fallen below the 10,000 mark.

The state registered 3,085 new infections per day in the last 24 hours. In all, 10,007 patients were discharged during the same period. Thirty-six deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.

Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded six and two deaths each while three deaths were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara. Rajkot Corporation did not officially record any COVID deaths.

All other districts except Junagadh Corporation, Kheda, Sabarkantha, Rajkot, Porbandar, Navsari, Valsad, Dev Bhoomi Dwarka, Aravali, Gandhinagar Corporation, Jamnagar, Gir Somnath, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Narmada, Tapi, Morbi, Botad, Dangs, and Chhota Udepur have registered COVID fatalities.

The state at present has 55,548 active cases of which 594 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,32,748 patients while the fatality stands at 9,701.

Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 362 cases. This was the sixth time since the second COVID wave began that the AMC limits saw less than 1000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 227 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 172 cases.

Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 362 and 120 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 38 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 91.82%.

Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 7.97 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.34 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.40 lakh cases and Vadodara over 73,000 cases.

COVID vaccination status

So far 1.60 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 80,218 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 17,011 people got their second shot of vaccine on Wednesday.

1.12 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 2.19 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
