City police commissioner Sanjay Srivastava has rejoined work after being down with Chikungunya even as two other IPS officers in the city have tested positive for COVID-19 while one is in quarantine.
Earlier, the spouse of two IPS officers had tested positive for the disease and now apparently one of the cops have tested positive while another is in quarantine.
DCP Zone 6 Ahsok Muniya is among those who tested positive for the disease.
Who are the IPS officers who tested positive?
Ahmedabad police commissioner Sanjay Srivastava was admitted to a private hospital with a lung infection and later he was diagnosed as suffering from Chikungunya. After a week of medical leave, Sanjay Srivastava rejoined office from Monday onwards.
Special Branch Additional CP, Prem Vir Singh has tested positive for COVID-19 days after his wife had tested positive too. Joint CP (traffic) IG Mayanksinh Chavda is also in quarantine after his wife tested positive. Both Singh and Chavda are on medical leave.
DCP Zone 6 of Ahmedabad city Ashok Muniya is also COVID-19 positive. Muniya had only recently returned to Gujarat after finishing his training at the National Police Academy. Two months ago, the ACP and DCP of SOG, as well as DCP cyber cell, also went on medical leave.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures
Gujarat has reported 1,020 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday. The addition of the fresh cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 1,80,699.
Seven deaths were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The fresh fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 3,763.
While two deaths have been reported from Ahmedabad, two deaths have been reported from Surat. The districts of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Gandhinagar have reported one death each.
