Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: In all 2,681 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Gujarat from June to October 2020. This comes as Gujarat recorded the highest ever single-day jump in COVID-19 cases on Saturday at 1515.
According to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) report, which is compiling the data of Health and Family Welfare, 810 deaths were reported due to COVID-19 in June, while the fatalities declined then after.
Last month – October- saw 266 deaths due to the disease. There was a gradual decline in the number of COVID-19 death in July – 593, August – 581, September – 431, and 266 in October.
COVID-19 tests saw a surge from August to October. In all 52.89 lakh, COVID-19 tests were carried out for the three months. The highest number of tests (20.86 lakh) were conducted in September in Gujarat.
The highest number of COVID-19 cases were also reported in the same month (40,959), while the discharge rate was highest in October (109%).
The current COVID-19 situation in Ahmedabad
As per State Health and Family Welfare Department data as of November 21, over 46,000 confirmed cases have been reported in Ahmedabad. In all 1,955 have died due to COVID-19 in the city.
