Gujarat recorded 2,230 COVID cases in the last 24 hours thus recording less than 10,000 cases consecutively for over seventeen days now.
In all, 7,109 patients were discharged during the same period. Twenty-nine deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded six and two deaths each while two deaths were recorded in Vadodara municipal corporation limit and one in Rajkot Municipal Corporation.
Apart from the three major municipal corporations the other districts and corporations that saw COVID fatalities were Vadodara, Surat, Panchmahals, Rajkot, Banaskantha, Jamnagar Corporation, Kheda, Gir-Somnath, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, and Chhota Udepur.
The state at present has 38,703 active cases of which 544 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,57,124 patients while the fatality stands at 9,790.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recorded 281 cases. For over a week now since the second COVID wave began, the AMC limits saw less than 1,000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 184 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 75 cases.
Rajkot Corporation limits saw 126 while Vadodara Corporation had 294, cases. Vadodara had the highest COVID case in the state in the last 24 hours. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 22 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 93.98%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 8.05 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.35 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.40 lakh cases and Vadodara over 75,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.67 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 39,548 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 30,253 people got their second shot of vaccine on Saturday.
1.16 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 1.97 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
