India reported 11,067 new COVID cases taking the total cases to 1.08 crore. The number of fatalities continued to remain below 100, data released by the health ministry showed.
The total fatality due to the disease touched 1,55,252 with 94 new deaths while the number of people who recovered touched 1.05 crore. The recovery rate stands at 97.27%, while the fatality rate is at 1.43%.
The total COVID-19 active cases were below 2 lakh.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Ladakh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Assam, have reported no new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours.
Seven states and UTs- Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mizoram, Nagaland and the Lakshadweep have reported no death in the last three weeks.
India reported 0.5% new deaths per million in the last seven days, the Centre said.
According to the ICMR, 20,33,24,655 samples have been tested up to February 9 with 7,36,903 samples being tested on Tuesday. Earlier, the last sero survey showed that over 70% of the country’s population is still vulnerable to the virus.
The government has set a deadline for the vaccination process asking states to administer at least one dose by February 20 to frontline workers.
For health workers who might have missed vaccination, the Centre has asked the states to come up with other rounds to ensure the target is met by February 24. All frontline workers are to be vaccinated by March 1 & 6.
