COVID cases in Gujarat saw a surge compared to Tuesday as 11,017 new infections per day were recorded in the last 24 hours on Wednesday. In all, 15,264 patients were discharged during the same period. 102 deaths due to the disease were recorded in 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded 17 and 9 deaths each while five deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
All other districts except Navsari, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Tapi, Porbandar, Botad, and Dangs have registered COVID fatalities.
The state at present has 1,27,483 active cases of which 804 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 5,78,397 patients while the fatality stands at 8,731.
Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 2,795 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 781 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 264 cases.
Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 664 and 286 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 117 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 80.94%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 7.14 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.13 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.31 lakh cases and Vadodara over 63,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.45 crore people have been vaccinated in the state of which 1.87 lakh were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 44,146 people above 45 years of age got the first dose of the vaccine while 90,646 lakh people got the second dose of the vaccine in the last 24 hours. 33,450 people got the first dose of vaccine in the 18 to 45 years of age group.
The registration for COVID vaccination for those in 18 to 45 years of age is now open in the CoWin app. Spot registration is not available to people in this age category.
