COVID cases in Gujarat touched 10,990 new infections per day in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. In all, 15,198 patients were discharged during the same period. 117 deaths due to the disease were recorded in 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded 17 and 8 deaths each while six deaths each were recorded in municipal corporations of Vadodara and Rajkot respectively.
All other districts except Kheda, Dahod, Gandhinagar Corporation, Morbi, Porbandar, Botad, and Dangs have registered COVID fatalities.
The state at present has 1,31,832 active cases of which 798 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 5,63,133 patients while the fatality stands at 8,629.
Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of per day cases with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recording 3059 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 790 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 265 cases.
Vadodara and Rajkot Corporation limits saw 598 and 334 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 116 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 80.04%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 7.03 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.10 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.30 lakh cases and Vadodara over 62,000 cases. Covid fatalities now stand at 8629.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.43 crore people have been vaccinated in the state of which 2.18 lakh were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 30,674 people above 45 years of age got the first dose of the vaccine while 1.36 lakh people got the second dose of the vaccine. 29,098 people got the first dose of vaccine in the 18 to 45 years of age group.
The registration for COVID vaccination for those in 18 to 45 years of age is now open in the CoWin app. Spot registration is not available to people in this age category.
