There is a tremendous protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act these days. Opposition parties are opposing this Act calling it against the basic spirit of the Constitution. Hasina Ben, a Muslim, had applied for Indian citizenship over a year ago. Hasina Ben was originally a resident of India. But she had married a Pakistani man and had been living in Pakistan as a Pakistani citizen since 1999.

But after some time she came back to India after her husband death and after living in India for several years. Two years ago, she had applied for Indian citizenship and now on 18 December 2019 she was granted with citizenship certificate from India.
In Dwaraka, Gujarat, Hasina Ben wrote a letter to the Collector seeking Indian citizenship. Hasina Ben was given the certificate of Indian citizenship by the Collector on behalf of Dwaraka Collector Dr. Narendra Kumar Meena. He added that after living in India for a prolonged period of time in a long-term visa, any person can apply for Indian citizenship. He added that the application process is completely online nowadays, and after due verification of all documents, and examining the details, an individual can get citizenship within 6 months time.
