Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has granted bail to a man accused of trying to have unnatural sex with a cow in Gujarat. Police had arrested the accused following a complaint against him.
Gujarat High Court granted bail to the accused on the condition that he will not leave the state without the prior permission of the trial court.
The court has also directed authorities to release the accused if his presence is not required in any other case. However, the court has granted liberty to the sessions court to issue a warrant or take appropriate action in case of breach of bail conditions.
The advocate appearing for the accused submitted before the court that it was a case of mistaken identity. The applicant does not have any such antecedents. The advocate also pointed out that the investigating officer is unable to bring on record any special circumstances against the accused.
The accused has been in jail since November 2, 2020. Also, the charge sheet has been filed in the case. Hence the bail should be granted to the accused.
However, the public prosecutor has opposed the bail application citing the gravity of the offence.
The cow case against accused
The accused a resident of Devibhoomi Dwarka in Gujarat on October 31, 2020 midnight allegedly tried to have unnatural sex with a cow and when someone shouted at him, he ran away from the spot.
